The main shopping centre is the small town of Heathfield, six miles west of Burwash.  The nearest large town centres are Hastings (12 miles) and Tunbridge Wells (15 miles).

There’s a bus service from the village which travels to Heathfield and Hurst Green.  The nearest train stations are Etchingham (3 miles) and Stonegate (4 miles).
