Get involved

Image: an involved residents readingAt Optivo our residents are at the heart of everything we do. We need to make sure our work reflects your expectations and want you to feel safe, secure and happy in your home from the day you move in.

Our Resident Involvement Strategy for 2018-2021 was created through joint consultation between involved residents and members of staff.

It explains how working together as one team we can help to give residents a big voice within Optivo and improve services.

Check it out to find out more about how resident involvement shapes everything we do here at Optivo.

2 residents at a meeting and providing feedback about the websiteHow can you help?

We want to work with you to design, monitor and scrutinise our services. Here are some of the ways you can help:

Become a board member

Do you care about your community and have an understanding of the issues affecting Optivo residents? Why not become a board member!

Our Board is responsible for working with staff and residents to make sure Optivo is running as efficiently as we can.

It’s vital our Board reflects the diverse needs and perspectives of our own residents; that’s why we need you.

If you're interested in applying or for more information, find out more here.

Resident panels

At Optivo we have a resident governance structure – this ensures that residents and staff work together to identify what’s working well and where we can make improvements.

View our resident governance structure here.

Complete surveys

Your opinion really can make a difference! We’re always looking for ways to improve our services. Keep an eye out for any surveys we share on our website, by email or social media.

Join focus groups

Volunteering is a great way to give something back to your community, as well as gain new skills and meet new people.

We offer volunteer positions within Optivo. We also work with other organisations offering volunteering opportunities across London, Sussex, Kent and the Midlands.

Become a mystery shopper

Our mystery shoppers help us to test the quality of our services by secretly performing tasks. This feedback is then used to shape our services.  You can even do this from the comfort of your own home, for example testing the way we deal with telephone or email enquiries.

As a thank you for being a mystery shopper we’ll give you £5 for every shop you complete.

If you're interested in becoming a mystery shopper, please contact us.

Become a Resident Representative at our monthly contract meetings

Do you want to help us manage and improve our day to day repairs and planned maintenance services?  We’re looking for residents to attend our formal monthly contract meetings to reinforce to our partners the things important to our residents.

You’ll receive training and ongoing support in this role.  Interested? Get in touch.

Give email feedback

We cherish all feedback, good and bad. Find out how you can contact us with a comment, compliment or complaint.

Fancy getting involved?

How can you make a difference?

Some of our involved residents tell us how they have helped to make a positive impact in their community:
Image: Involved Optivo resident MichelleMichelle from Kent says:
I had always heard through my neighbour about the great things residents were doing to improve our community; I wanted to be part of that. I really feel I can bring something as a resident through my involvement and I feel more confident as a result.”

Winniefred from London says:
"It is only recently in the past few years that I got interested in being on the panel, helping to represent and shape the nature of policies.  Why?  Well I believe that the community you build becomes stronger once you have committed residents on board, and communities are made up of people, your neighbours, your estate, or street property residence and the people who work for Optivo.  Your voice counts."
