Challenge, share, learn and earn as a Resident Board Member

We have an exciting paid opportunity for an Optivo resident to join our board as a non-executive director. 

Our board is responsible for holding our Executive Team to account and making sure Optivo is running as efficiently as we can. 

It’s made up of a wide variety of people from different backgrounds, each with different skill sets and experiences. 

It’s vital our board reflects the diverse needs and perspectives of our own residents; that’s why we need you. 

This is your opportunity to challenge the way we do things, bring a fresh perspective to the table and develop and learn new skills.

You don’t need previous board experience. But you do need to be passionate about our social purpose. You also need the skills and expertise to help us as we execute our 2020/25 strategic plan.   

To meet the criteria for this role, you must be a general needs resident and named on the tenancy agreement.
 

The ideal candidate

  • Has the ability to think and communicate constructively, critically, objectively and clearly as part of a team 
  • Is IT literate and comfortable with handling and analysing performance, financial data and other information
  • Knows about issues affecting fellow residents and wants to make a difference.

The successful candidate will:

  • Attend eight Board meetings per year. These are currently via video-conference but will move back to our head office, Grosvenor House in Croydon, when Covid-19 restrictions allow
  • Sit on at least one other Optivo Committee which meets four times per year
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with fellow Board and Committee members and senior staff members.
