44 new affordable homes for Croydon
44 new affordable homes for Croydon
18 August 2020
We're set to deliver 44 much needed new homes in Purley, Croydon, for London Affordable Rent.
Following planning approval by
Croydon Council
in December 2019, work has now started on the Grovelands Road development, off Brighton Road, which includes a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments.
The scheme, which has a Gross Development Value (GDV) of £17 million, is part of Optivo’s Homes for London 2016-21 programme, bringing 3,600 new homes to the capital by 2021.
Richard White, Director of Land and New Business at Optivo,
said:
“We strive to build thriving, sustainable neighbourhoods, with quality homes available to everyone. Grovelands brings much needed affordable housing to Croydon.
It’ll provide residents a fantastic place to live and allow them to become part of an established community. We’ve worked closely with our partners to ensure it meets housing need, and careful consideration was given to the local area.
One of our strategic priorities is to invest in the quality, safety and environmental sustainability of our homes. We envisage a unique and modern scheme that will blend seamlessly into its surroundings.
We want Grovelands to be flexible, accessible and sustainable for the residents, and the community too. As part of our commitment to enhancing lives, we will be offering work placements to our residents and members of the local community during the construction process.”
The site, once two detached two storey houses, will be reinvigorated with a thoughtful design ensuring flexibility, accessibility and inclusivity for residents.
Residents will have the perfect mix of private and communal spaces, with private gardens and balconies as well as access to a communal garden, children’s play area, and picnic area.
As well as several bus routes, the development is close to Reedham station with regular services to central London. It also offers easy access to central Croydon and Gatwick Airport. Work is due to complete in March 2023.
