Whilst Anita was out of work, her mental health was suffering. With dreams of securing a role in accounting, she met with Employment Support Officer DB, who helped her on the journey to success.

Having recently secured an AAT Level 3 accounting qualification and with a background in hospitality and accounts, Anita already had set goals. Together in one-on-one sessions Anita and DB built on these. They identified strengths and barriers to create a personalised action plan.

Throughout the next few months, DB and Anita were in regular contact and the one-on-one sessions became a safe space for Anita to communicate in confidence, voice any concerns and ask questions. Within the next few weeks, she secured a role in a local Hotel as an events manager, with a promise to support an internal move into accounts should a role become available.

Thank you for believing in me, giving me the motivational talks and the confidence to eventually believe in myself.”

Knowing Anita’s career aspirations, a few weeks later DB sent through a job for a part time Accounts Assistant with a local accounting firm. With the skills and confidence from regular sessions, Anita went for it, and that afternoon found out the role was hers. DB continued to support Anita, helping her access funds for her new commute, and even securing a laptop she could work from.

Anita said: ‘Thank you, DB, for believing in me, giving me the motivational talks and the confidence to eventually believe in myself. You were adamant that I’d become employed because it’s what I wanted, you felt it and clearly saw my vision.’

She added: ‘I want to also thank the team for supporting me with travel and a laptop. They went above and beyond their job description in making sure I was able to get to work and continue with my studies’

The future

Now, employed in her dream role, Anita is full of life and feeling positive. She’s thriving in her work and has even enrolled in a course to further her education and gain her AAT Level 4.

DB said: ‘It was a pleasure helping Anita as she’s such a hardworking and likeable individual. She took onboard all the advice and guidance given to her. I wish her all the best in her career and studies’.
